Some Info about LORI:

Where and when were you born?
Hamilton, Ontario Canada
November 28, 1977
Height: 5’5
Weight: contest 125-128
Off-season: 140

What is your profession?
I own a Health Food/supplement store

Were you involved in sports or fitness prior to bodybuilding/figure and how did you get started with weight training?
When I was younger I trained and competed in various levels of Equestrian. It wasn’t until I was in a life altering car accident that my whole life changed. After the accident I had several years of rehab and still couldn’t go back to horses, so that dream was gone. I have been in the supplement industry for over 11 years and a year after I bought my store I met my now finance, whom got me started with my training. I tried many different therapies to get my life back to normal but nothing seemed to work, until Darrin Robinson began training me. He trained me, designed my diets and gave me the support I needed to be able to live this fitness life. He totally transformed me — inside and out.

Was it a goal for you to compete in figure competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body?
I had never thought I could have what it takes to go on stage. Until a few years ago when my progress became quite significant and I had a lot people telling me I should give it a try. I trained and prepared for my first competition and it was the best experience of my life as I emerged a champion

Can you give me your competition history?
2005 Ontario Figure Champion (medium class)
2004 Western Ontario Figure Champion (medium class)

Which contest has been your biggest success; which has had the most meaning to you?
Honesty, my very first competition was my biggest success. I never thought I could be a figure competitor and going on and winning my class was the most incredible feeling I could ever have!

Please tell me something about your training routine (ie: how many days per week / training split /cardio, etc.)
I train 5 days a week and take a 2 day break. I train one or two body parts per session and I don’t do any cardio.

What is your favourite exercise in the gym and which one you don’t like so much?
I love bench press, I am very tiny when I diet down and can push quite a bit of weight for my size—I love the reaction I get I don’t like squats. I have neck and feet issues so they are very gruelling and sometimes painful.

Which body part is your best in your opinion?
I have 2—abs and delts

What do you enjoy about training for competition....what do you enjoy about the 'off season'?
I love being lean and working towards competition day, it give me a great focus and determination to be the best that I can be. I like the off season for my strength and faster recovery time also for the “not so strict diet”.

Please describe a typical day in the life of Lori-Ann Redding.
I go to work at my store then train in the afternoon—my days aren’t very eventful. After the gym I do my errands for the day, go home, prepare my meals for the next day and work on the computer. My day finishes by relaxing in front of the TV for an hour before bed.

Please tell me about what you do when you don’t work out (hobbies, what do you do to relax?, etc.)
We watch a lot of movies and I’m involved in a few different message boards and love chatting with people in the industry. Darrin and I, when the weather is nice will go for a lot of walks and take lots of pictures. We also love spending time up at my cottage.

What do you enjoy most about the bodybuilding/fitness lifestyle?
I love the feeling of being healthy and fit. I love the reaction I get when people I haven’t seen in a long time see me and how I’ve changed.

Tell me something interesting about yourself, something people may be surprised to hear.
I was almost killed several years ago by a drunk driver, whom died at the scene of the accident.

What are your competition goals or personal future goals?
I am going to compete at the Canadian Nationals on July 1, 2006 in Edmonton Alberta. Hopefully I will qualify and compete at the North Americans in September. My ultimate goal is to obtain an IFBB Pro card
Personal goals — I will continue to work on my physique and promote this industry to the best of my ability.
