Gymnastics, track, softball, soccer How and when did you get involved into lifting weights? I got involved with weight training before I joined the marine corps in 1990 Was it a goal for you to compete in bodybuilding competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body? I had been weight training for about 10 years before I competed. It wasn’t my idea. A friend of mine suggested that I had good genetics and that I should try it. What was your first competition and how did you place? My first competition was the ohio governors cup where I placed 13th out of 15 in the lightweight division. And which contest has been the biggest success for you yet? I would have to say the 2004 usa’s in las vegas, it really was a big turning point in my physique. I was able to improve so much from the previous year. I was surprised how well it turned out. Get up, go to the gym, go home to shower, go to work, come home, watch tv, answer email, go to bed. Not very exciting…sorry. If I am off season. I like to go out to eat and I love to sleep in on my off days from the gym. Please tell me something about your daily training routine. Very boring! Lol. Seriously…I like to stay somewhat regimented. It keep things running smoothly. Don’t get me wrong, I love to have fun but just in the off season which isn’t very often. This time I am taking 8 months so I should be able to find something to do. How often do you train in a week? 5 days off season. 7 days pre contest. The 7th day just being cardio and secondary exercises like abs calves and glutes What are the main differences when you train for a competition and in off-season? Diet and cardio. My weight training is pretty much the same except as I get closer to a show I loose a little strength and have to lift a little lighter. If you don’t mind would you give me some stats (best lifts and some body measurements)? Some lifts would be…bench 225…squat 315 Right now I weigh 150 with 16” biceps 28”quads 17” calves Which bodypart is your best in your opinion? As of last year, I am excited to say, my quads. What is your favorite exercise in the gym and which one you don’t like so much? Favorite…incline dumbbell press Least favorite…abs Judging in Women’s Bodybuilding has always been criticised in one or the other way. Please tell me your honest thoughts about today’s judging in Women’s Bodybuilding. Any time you allow for subjectiveness you are always going to have unfair judging. Too many people play favorites and too many times I have seen, as we all have, people not placed high enough because they don’t know the right people or they haven’t been around long enough. I don’t mind loosing to someone for those reasons but I never want to be on the receiving end of favoritism. I want to win because I deserve it. Not because I haven’t done the “magic” number of shows or whatever other reason there may be. someone i know said that they should create a standard for judging and stick to it. give the judges a picture of the perfect physique so they can have something to compare. if one weight class winner is shredded then they all should. if one is smoother then they should all be smoother. some consistency would be nice. i wouldnt want their job though. too tough and too criticized as i just demonstrated. Please tell me about what else you are doing when you don’t work out (profession, hobbies, etc.) Since I covered the profession already…my hobbies…I have a harley that I don’t ride enough and 2 great boxers that are a joy. What are your future plans for 2004/2005? Put on 5-19 more lbs of muscle and come back for the north Americans in Sept 2005. Please note: Christine does not not do sessions or wrestling of any kind. Please don't ask!! |
