Where and when were you born?
I was born on August 16th, in General Salgado, a small town in Brazil.
What is your profession?
I´m a personal trainer.
Were you involved in sports or fitness prior to bodybuilding and how did you get started with weight training?
I started weightlifting when I was a teenager. I eventually got into powerlifting, but bodybuilding was a distant dream for me. But then I saw a picture of this Brazilian bodybuilder on a magazine and it just hit me that that´s what I wanted to do.
Was it a goal for you to compete in bodybuilding competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body?
Yes, it´s always been my goal to be the best at whatever I do, and with bodybuilding was no different.
Can you give me your competition history?
I´m Brazil´s second strongest woman, with a Bench Press record of 220lbs. In Bodybuilding, Im the Panamerican Champion, APC International Champion, Ms.Extreme International Champion.
Which contest has been your biggest success; which has had the most meaning to you?
The 2011 Mr.Santos was very important to me. It´s one of the most renowned bodybuilding competitions in Brazil, and, even though I placed 4th in it, being on that stage meant a lot for me.
Please tell me something about your training routine (ie: how many days per week / training split /cardio, etc.)
My training depends on what the goal is at that moment. I like to stay full and muscular, so I usually do periodization training. My phisiologist Rodrigo Magosso has implemented many of his specialized methods and attention to detail to make sure we present the best physique on stage every time.
What is your favorite exercise in the gym and which one you don’t like so much?
I love training my biceps. My least favourite exercise would have to be Squat.
Which body part is your best in your opinion?
People usually mention the size of my biceps and triceps.
What do you enjoy about training for competition....what do you enjoy about the 'off season'?
In contest shape, I love training legs and seeing the improvement. On the off season, I like being able to eat more and not having to stick to a strict diet.
Please describe a typical day in the life of Gil Cunha.
I wake up, usually train in the morning before going to work and study at night.
Please tell me about what you do when you don’t work out (hobbies, what do you do to relax?, etc.)
I like going out with my friends to dance and listen to music.
What do you enjoy most about the bodybuilding/fitness lifestyle?
I love the training and discipline it takes to be a bodybuilder. I think it shapes you for everything in life.
Tell me something interesting about yourself, something people may be surprised to hear.
Im a good housewife, a great cook and a great mother to my daughter Lanai.
What are your competition goals or personal future goals?
My goal is to be the best bodybuilder in Brazil and to compete in the U.S in the near future and be amongst the best in the world. I´ve also started working on a series of photoshoots and videos with my manager Danilo Ferraz. So I will have constant new material for my fans to keep up with my progress and stay in touch.
