Some Info about CHRISTINA:

Where and when were you born? 10/14/1967 Northville, Michigan. Was raised in CA where I lived from 1971-2006.  I now live in New Mexico.

What is your profession? Domestic Engineer aka house wife, Mother of 5

What kind of activities/sports did you do before you started lifting weights? I did and still Love to ride ATV’s. Horse back ride,. I played volleyball in high school.  Love the beach and body surfing.

How and when did you get involved into lifting weights? I lifted some in high school and a little on and off after. But I really got in to lifting in 2001 after seeing a picture of myself in a swimsuit on our trip to Mexico, yuck! I started doing the Body for Life, by Bill Phillips. I started seeing results within 3-4 weeks. It was an awesome feeling. I felt strong in ever aspect of my life (body, mind, & soul), not just my muscles. I found discipline in my eating. I became accountable for what I put in my mouth and in control of what my body could be.

Was it a goal for you to compete in bodybuilding competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body? I actually never really wanted to compete and never saw myself looking like I do. But after reaching my weight lose goal I needed a new goal and had gotten bitten by the iron bug.  I am now hunting a Pro card.

What was your first competition and how did you place? Modesto-July 24th 2004 I was the only heavy there.

And which contest has been the biggest success for you yet? Sacramento when I won my Excalibur!! I won the heavy weight class and the overall. It was great! When I first thought about competing one of my sons saw the sword on the flyer for the San Jose show and said “mommy you have to get one of those” and he picked a spot on the wall were we could hang it. Well, I had to get one! That was that. So I had to win the Sacramento.

Please describe a typical day in the life of Christina Rhodes. LOL, ok are you sure you want this? Not to exciting, LOL. I wake at 3:30am to get to the gym (at 4:00am) for cardio (60 min cardio) and an ab workout. But before I leave the house I have to start a load of laundry.  After the gym it is time to eat and get the house moving (kids). I have a new husband,  three sons, (9, 10, 11 years old) and 2 daughters (13 & 17 year old). I have breakfast & lunches to make and dishes to do. After everyone is off to school and work, it is back to the gym for a couple more hours.  This trip I am hitting the weights.  So days I will have a massage appt. after or have to go tan.  I get home to eat and get on the computer to check emails and go to  http://www.ftultracam.com to chat with some fans.  Then kids get home and we have to get the boys ready for football practice and my daughter to fencing practice.  Some nights go back to the gym to spot my husband.  We get home eat and finish up any home work, I will try to get back online to chat some more. Have to try and get to bed early, morning comes way too soon.

Please tell me something about your daily training routine. I train 2 body parts per day, (chest & triceps, back & biceps, and then shoulders & legs get there own day,) I will work it this way for a few weeks and then switch it up (chest & back, bicep & triceps) and I try to work legs & shoulders twice a week, cardio & abs everyday. My sets are 12, 10, 8, 6 going up in weight every rep. example: Dumbbell bench press-40lbx12, 60x10, 70lbX8, 90lbx6, 100lbx4 (this is my actual db workout)

How often do you train in a week? 6 days (I try to always take Sun. off). On my off season I will take two days off (Wed. & Sun.)

What are the main differences when you train for a competition and in off-season? Cardio, and maybe two days off per week on the off season. I lift heavy on the off season and lighter for competition but the reps are higher (5-10 sets of 20).

If you don’t mind would you give me some stats (best lifts and some body measurements)? I can barbell bench press 205lb x10, Dumbbell press 100lb x 6. I can leg press 1400lbs x 10.  I can hack squat 510lb and squat 270lb. I can curl 60lb dumbbells x10.  People always ask me to try and max and just see what I could do for 1 or 2 and now that I am married to a Power Lifter I have started thinking about how much my one rep max would be????
My biceps are 15.5”, quads are 26.5”, calves 15.5”, chest 42” . Weight last year was 185lb off season and 160lb on stage at 5% body fat. Weight off season this year is 185lb and on stage ??? Stay tuned Ill let you know, LOL Planning on coming in tighter, harder and SHREDDED! Thinking I will come down to 148-150 lb on stage.

Which bodypart is your best in your opinion? Hmmmm……I use to say my chest…or maybe my shoulders, but since my leg press came up so high and my legs are so strong it might be my legs now, LOL..

What is your favorite exercise in the gym and which one you don’t like so much? It Has to be leg press now (change from last year, LOL)  My leg press is up to 1400 lb for 10.  WOOOO HOOOO!

Judging in Women’s Bodybuilding has always been criticized in one or the other way. Please tell me your honest thoughts about today’s judging in Women’s Bodybuilding. WOULD THEY JUST MAKE UP THEIR MINDS WHAT THEY WANT FROM US!!
Please tell me about what else you are doing when you don’t work out (profession, hobbies, etc.) I was personal Training for a while, but kids needed me at home.   I love to ride my 2004 Kawaski 636 Ninja! I ride ATV’s, Camping, Snow ski & my favorite thing is just hangin out with my hunny and our kids.

What are your future plans for 2008?

I will be going to watch and support friends at the USA's and the Olympia.
I will be competing at:
