Some Info about JODY:

Where and when have you been born? A small town in West Texas, 4/12

Where do you live now? Still in West Texas

What is your profession? Physical Therapist Assistant/ Marketing Represenative for HealthSouth Sports Medicine, specializing in pediatrics

What kind of activities/sports did you do before you started lifting weights? Gymnastics, track soccer, cheerleading, tennis, powerlifting

How and when did you get involved into lifting weights? I was bored with all the sports I had tried. I saw pictures of Rachel McLish and Cory Everson and knew that is what I wanted to do. I was hooked when I realized I could change my physique so easily.

Was it a goal for you to compete in bodybuilding competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body? I began lifting when I was 15, so I did not know what I was doing, but I was blessed to have been introduced to a few people that did know and were able to teach me properly. During college I knew I wanted to compete, but I wanted to do it right so I waited until I graduated and entered my first show about 16 months later

Which competition has been your first one and how did you place? I did the Lackland Classic in San Antionio, Tx. Placed 4th ..out of four, four years ago and weighed 35 pounds less than I do now! When I weighed in they put me in MW and the next morning they moved me to HW because I weighed 132..exactly! FYI, Gina Davis won HW and over all, just my luck to compete against someone like her for the first time. Incidently she is a friend of mine now.

And which contest has been the biggest success for you yet? 2003 Ronnie Coleman Classic

Could you please add a history of all contests that you have entered so far? 1999 Lackland Classic-4th HW; 2001 Venus Model Search Finalist; 2002 Southwest USA fitness model Search-1st; 2002 John Sherman Classic (figure)-8th; 2003 Ronnie Coleman Classic-HW 1st. I have just begun dieting for the Southwest USA August 7th in Arlington Tx. In the first 3 weeks I have already lost 15 pounds. I have never taken a real off season and I got up to 188. That is the heaviest I have ever been!! I felt terrible and am soooo happy to be dieting again!(Never thought I would say that!)

Please describe a typical day in the life of Jody May. Eat, Eat Eat.Kidding, I train too! In between all that I also work full time as a PTA, do Home Health on the side, and go to school at night to finish my Kinesiology degree, miniring in Biology.

Please tell me something about your daily training routine. My daily routine is very structured, I do a specific thing at a specific time every day. I am almost obcessive about it

How often do you train in a week? I have recently changed my routine so I can get more rest and not spend so much time in the gym. Sunday-Chest ( because EVERYONE does chest on Monday!) Monday-off,Tuesday -Legs, Wednesday- Off, Thursday- Shoulders, Friday-Back, and Saturday -Arms. I do Calves 2 on 1 off and train soleus and gastrocs sepratly.

What are the main differences when you train for a competition and in off-season? No cardio in the offseason. I despise cardio! My workouts stay the same.

If you don't mind would you give me some stats (best lifts and some body measurements)? I don't really keep track of my lifts, I only remember working out with close to 900 pounds on the leg press, but I was MUCH younger. I have not measured anything but my calves in a long time, and they are 17 inches right now. That is up from 16...yeah!!!

Which bodypart is your best in your opinion? I have to say abs... I don't really know. I have alot of people say legs though....

What is your favorite exercise in the gym and which one you don't like so much? Right now my favorite is deadlifts, because I am seeing great gains. I have goal to DL 315 for reps in 3 weeks... I am at 285 for2 sets of 8 right now. My all time favorite is Squats, that's where I got my quads! I dislike calves, and I don't know why!

Judging in Women's Bodybuilding has always been criticised in one or the other way. But please tell me your honest thoughts about today's judging in Women's Bodybuilding. I feel like the judging is getting better, they are looking for girls that look a little more feminine, which is good for me! It is a very objective sport and I know that.

Please tell me about what else you are doing when you don't work out (profession, hobbies, etc.) I am more of a home body. I spend a lot of time with my family and I help people with their diets. I am not sure I am ever NOT working out!!:-)

What are your future plans? I am currently working to qualify for Nationals at the Southwest USA August 7th. Keep your fingers crossed!
