Where and when were you born? ---I was born in Aurora, IL on November 20, 1977. What is your profession? --- Personal trainer, Sessionette Were you involved in sports or fitness prior to figure and how did you get started with weight training? ---I was a cheerleader in high school and during my senior year I started to lift weights a bit to get stronger to catch the girls in the basket toss. Was it a goal for you to compete in figure competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body? ---I lifted casually for 10 years before I got serious about nutrition and strength training. My physique started to take the appearance of a figure competitor, and during show season, I kept getting asked when I was competing. I looked into what all this competition talk was about and thought it would be a good goal. My husband actually said that I would compete in bodybuilding one day, but I didn’t pay much attention to the comment. As it turns out, I would only compete as a figure competitor for one year before switching to bodybuilding! As far as most meaningful, I have learned a great deal about myself and the sport at every show. Each one had its own lesson to be learned! Please tell me something about your training routine (ie: how many days per week / training split /cardio, etc.) ---I lift 3 days per week and do cardio 6 days per week right now, which varies in intensity, duration, and mode. What is your favorite exercise in the gym and which one you don’t like so much? --- I am always asked how much I squat because of my leg development, but I actually cannot squat much because I have scoliosis…I am not able to put a heavy enough load on my back to fully tax my legs. For this reason, I would have to say I don’t like the squat for me personally. Which one do I like…….too many to choose from! I love to lift! Which body part is your best in your opinion? ---I would have to say my legs are my best body part. If you don’t mind would you give me some stats (best lifts and some body measurements)? Bench - 155 for 10 reps Leg press – 810 for 15 reps Curl – 35 for 10 reps Bust – 36B Waist – 27” Hips – 38” Quads – 24” Biceps – 13” What do you enjoy about training for competition....what do you enjoy about the off season'? ---I like the structure of training for a competition, but also watching the changes take place in my body and knowing that I caused those changes. I love experimenting with new training and nutrition techniques and watching to see what happens. ---Off-season I like to eat more and lift heavy! I always weigh out my protein even during the off-season, but I will have a few cheat meals per week. I like to maintain a reasonable off-season look.
